There are 2 new HAWK signals (High-intensity Activated Cross Walk) at mid-block crosswalks on Washington Blvd. The HAWK makes it easier for pedestrians to cross Washington Blvd. It also minimizes traffic delays. These are very easy to use and effective!
One is near the Government Center/Bell Street and another at Mill River Park/Aria Restaurant. Watch this video instructing how to use the HAWK signals.
The HAWK might seem confusing, but just remember these easy rules:
- Flashing Yellow : Slow down and get ready to stop.
- Solid Yellow : Stop if possible.
- Solid Red : Stop.
- Flashing Red : Stop and yield to pedestrian. Then go.
